Hey Amazon Echo users, install our new ScreenLogic skill to control IntelliTouch and EasyTouch with your voice!
If you don't have Amazon Echo yet, I highly recommend it!!!
Can we make this a sticky so you can update it and we can see be made aware of future enhancements?
What is the command to adjust heater temp (for example if you want to change temp in your spa)
I added Pentair ScreenLogic skill for Alexa, Now when I open ScreenLogic on my computer, the protocol adapter ID Pentair: xx-xx-xx appears and is listed with the IP address in the Local Systems window, but when I click on Start ScreenLogic, the window opens with a black screen. Do I need to reinstall ScreenLogic? Please advise.
Mike, please update your protocol adapter to version 733 which can be found here:
After you update your protocol adapter, download the 733 version of ScreenLogic Connect for your PC or Mac.
Our tech support team can help walk you through this process if you need help.
Is there anywhere we can get a complete list of the things we can ask Echo (Alexa) to do? I am looking to turn on the heater, change the spa temperature, and control lights but I can't figure out how. Thanks!
You can find the list in the ScreenLogic skill description in the Amazon Alexa app. We currently support turning circuits on and off and asking what your temps, pH, ORP, or status overview. We plan to add Lighting, custom circuit names (if possible) and temp control in the future.
Ed I have lights around my pool that I was using the name Lanai lights. Alexa did not understand the the name "lanai" and would therefor say no such circut by that name. Then I changed the name from "Lanai lights" to "patio lights" and all of a sudden Alexa turned them on/off. Just a suggestion it might be something as easy as changing the name for Alexa to understand the command.
Bob is correct. We are limited by Amazon's speech recognition ability to understand certain words. For example, during development, I had planned to have the trigger word be ScreenLogic. "Alexa, ask ScreenLogic to..." but it just wouldn't work. When I went into the Alexa app, I saw that it was "hearing" me say "Alexa, ask Scream Logic to..." so I changed it to Pentair.
I'm having difficulty adding my ScreenLogic brick to the skill. I keep getting a validation failed error under the pool name. I'm using the Pentair: xx-xx-xx pool name, where xx-xx-xx is the mac id just as it's shown on my screenlogic sign in page.
Nobody seems to be able to help
Does anyone know how to add a Pool to the Alexa Skill account I was asked to create when setting up the skill?
Ok I am not sure how I found it, but https://pentairpoolchat.com/profile allows you to add your pool.
If you able to connect it, please report back. I've had no luck. I see the same pool chat link, logged on, and tried to put in the info. All I keep getting is a validation error when I put in the pool name. I'm frustrated beyond belief that I can't get this to work.
Hi everyone, here is a help document for getting Alexa connected with ScreenLogic. I hope his helps!!
Thank you!!! That worked.
I was trying to use the pool name on the screenlogic sign in screen on my PC.
After reading your instructions,I used a random name I just made up and it worked.
Ok,that happiness didn't last long. :(
I got it hooked up, it will tell me the pool temp, but that's it.
I've tried to turn off the lights, but it's stumped.
I have an easy touch 4. AUX2 is the light. It's named garden lights.
I've tried, "Alexa, ask Pentair to turn Auxillary 2 off" . It has no clue what I'm saying.
Then I try, " Alexa, ask Pentair to turn on garden lights"
Great idea, but this skill needs work. For me right now, this is pretty useless.
I had the same problem then someone told me that Alexa just didn't understand the name, so I changed the name from "lanai lights" to "patio lights" and it worked. Remember you must change the name in screenlogic to something easy that Alexa will understand. Just to try it and I think it should work for you. It did for me. Good luck!
Bob is correct. We can't train Alexa to understand some names. I would recommend trying to simplify the name as much as possible. Instead of Garden Lights maybe try just Lights and build from there. During development, I was going to have the trigger word be ScreenLogic but Alexa kept "hearing" it as "scream logic." So I changed it to Pentair...
Which brings up a good point. You can use the Alexa app to see exactly how Alexa is interpreting what you say.
Another cool tip: download an app called Martian mVoice. When you run it say that you're just trying it out and then select the Alexa page. It will use your Alexa app to login to your Amazon account and then you have full remote access to your Echo/Dot/Tap. You just hit the button and say "Ask Pentair to turn on/off/whatever" and it will respond just like you were there at home." Give it a try, it's pretty cool.
I'm able to ask the pool and spa temp, but not the air temp. How do I ask what the air temperature is?
We are still building out all the capabilities of this skill. We will add this and more in the future.
I'll second that one -- air temperature would be great!
I can't make this work. Have linked the skill and created an account but I can't add my device. I keep getting "Device ID or password is wrong!" but they're not. They work to login with the screenlogic app.
We have a problem with one of the authentication servers. This should be fixed tomorrow or Monday at the latest.
Sorry for the inconvenience!
Is this problem still occuring? I am having problems setting up the Alexa skill as well. I have logged into the Pentair Screen Logic Echo skill and now it is asking me to Add my protocol adapter. I made up a Pool name, but it doesn't seem to allow me to add my protocol adapter address stating that it must be unique.
I'm still seeing the problem.
I still have problems adding my pool to the amazon skill too. It will be pretty cool when the developers can get it working. Especially since my $500 Easy Touch Remote is completely non functional now and of course out of warranty. Pentair has some work to do perfecting it's technology.
Works now! Time to name circuits.
Like most people I have limited things it can understand and do. How do you change the circuit names in ScreenLogic. All I see is a drop down with fixed names I can select. I ask "Pentair to turn the Pool Light on", which is the name of the circuit, and it does not understand. I would change it to just lights to keep it simple but I don't know how to change it.
The Alexa integration is fantastic, but how about an API to ScreenLogic2 so developers can build out the ecosystem for you?
