Changing out INtellibrite 5G driver - Test for electrocution

I plan on taking apart my pool light and changing out the LED driver board. Process looks simple. But water and electricity freak me out. After I install it, is there a way to drop multimeter probes into the water to see if there is any dangerous current running through the water? Which setting would I use on the Multimeter? DCV or ACV? and then just drop both probes into the water?

Or is it going to be relatively safe as the transformer converts the electricty to 12V DC which is not enough to harm you?

Testing the water for electricity will have to be checked by an electrician that can test for current in your water, once the light is reassembled and sealed, you may want to drop it into a bucket of water first and check for leaks. Always make sure that your light is properly grounded as well?
