Kreepy Krauly Classic - poor suction

I have a KK generic (XtremepowerUS Automatic Vacuum-generic).
It crawls around the pool great, but fails to pick up much debri.
Any little pebbles or anything with mass it seems to just roll over.
Above the skirt, there are two openings where most of the suction (water intake) seems to be diverted.
The bottom seems to just be providing suction - like a 'suction cup', so it can climb walls, etc.
Is this a known limitation of this model?
Is something wrong?
Is there any modification I can make?
Thanks.

Make sure that you are using the vacuum regulator at the skimmer, sounds like there maybe too much suction which could drive the cleaner to try to stick itself to the floor / wall. Try to back off some of the suction to allow the cleaner to attempt to trap the debris and pick it up from the bottom of the seal.

Yep, I am using the vacuum

Yep, I am using the vacuum controller. It scoots around great, but not great at picking up debri. Dissappointing.

If it's moving well then

If it's moving well then suction should be good. It's limitation is usually the small opening. Usually will do well with dust and very small debris. Leaves will get stuck at flap or in tube. Make sure flap moves freely and no debris stuck in tube.
