Pentair Superflow VS coming on at odd time?? Freeze mode??

I installed a Pentair SuperFlow VS in the spring, replacing an older single speed pump.

I loved the pump all year until now, when it started coming on at odd times.

I live in Las Vegas, in the winter it drops below freezing some nights, but not until 4AM or so.
To be safe I have always run my pump from 1AM to 8AM each night.
Which is what my SuperFlow VS is set to.

However, it seems to run at from about 5PM to 9AM, much longer than necessary, an energy waste.
I have read the manual many times, and there is no mention of a freeze run mode
Only a precaution to run the pump when it's below freezing, which I am doing.

Does this pump have some type of freeze run mode?
Or is the pump malfunctioning?

If this is a freeze mode:
1) Is there any indication on the panel when it runs in this mode, there seems to be an extra blinking light.
2) At what temperature does this come on?
3) What speed does the pump run at during this mode?
4) Is there anyway to change these settings?

With the Superflo vs pump, it does not have a built in freeze protect, this may have to do with the programming of the pump time or you may need to do a reset on the pump by simply pressing the arrow up, arrow down, and the #1 button at the same time and hold down for 1 second. Try this first and reset your running schedule, and see if this works.

Hmm? are we talking about the same pump
There is no "#1" button
The Box says Superflo VS 342000
The pump is marked M48AA95A03
The manual says you press STOP and OVERRIDE for 3 seconds, which I will try
The manual I am looking at is

Do I have the right manual?

My apologies, there was two versions of the superflo vs pump, you have the first generation of the pump. This pump is based on duration settings from a start up point. The manual is the correct one.

I tried reset, and turning the breaker off for a few hours, and resetting again.
But it comes on at random times, or possibly just very early. I am using the "schedule advance" function. This morning around 7AM I used the schedule advance to have it start 12 hours later. But it started up about 1 hour later. The Start and left "setting" LEDs were blinking. (Normally just the start LED blinks while it's waiting in schedule advance. )

Please advise is this pump defective??

Now that the weather has warmed up, lows in the 40's
The pump has been working perfectly, as programmed, for the last 4 days.

It really sounds to me like there is some undocumented low temp freeze mode?

Pentair does sell a wide variety of different pumps, with seemingly different electronics,
and many with a freeze mode. Could there be a mix-up, as in the first response, or do I have a different version of the code.

It really looks like an intentionally programmed mode because when my pump runs in this mystery mode, this is the way the LEDs act:

For normal operation, there are 4 buttons Step1, Step2, Step3, Override
There is a led above each button that lights up solid when the pump is running in that mode.
When my pump goes into it's mystery mode, none of those LEDs are lit up,
but the pump is running.

There also are also 2 setting LEDS, above the duration and Speed columns
Normally these LEDs alternate, indication speed or duration display below.

But when my pump is in it's mystery mode, the LED above the duration column is blinking, but the LED above speed is off.

BTW, nothing is connected to the automation control inputs

Hello, did you ever solve this problem? I'm having the exact same problem. I bought my 342000 3 years ago but did not install it until now (i just sat in the box in my garage). I called Pentair and they said the 3 steps needed to equal 24 hours (meaning step 3 is set to 0 rpm if you want to run it less than 24 hours a day). But that did not solve the problem. Runs fine exactly as programmed, then comes on in mystery mode in the middle of the night.
