Pentair Whisperflo Pump impeller over-tightens with pump use and binds up the motor shaft

Motor had been humming and not starting occasionally -- After replacing motor seals, I've installed the impeller slightly less than hand-tight twice -- after several days of use, the impeller automatically tightens up hard onto the motor shaft, and binds up the motor to the extent that the motor won't always start ( just hums and trips the breaker) After re-installing the impeller looser, the same thing happened again. Without the impeller, the motor shaft spins nicely by hand.

Thanks,

John

It could be more than likely you may have an issue with the impeller binding up or warped. Typically the motor will hum if the start capacitor could be failing or the impeller is locking up the shaft.
