Screenlogic2 connection problems

I have an easy touch 8 for about the last 5 years and recently upgraded the Pentair wireless so that I could buy the ScreenLogic hardware to enable use of the iPhone/iPads to control the pool. All went fine and out of the box everything worked. The only problem I had was I never got the "remote" connection to work, but I suspect I know why that is (just a hunch it has to do with my firewall). Oh, and I never got the Video & Lighting patch/upgrade to work, but everything still seemed to work fine.

We used the Screenlogic from our mac and mobile devices for about 2 weeks no problems.

I had some heater problems so while troubleshooting that, I had to jumper the fireman switch (and thus disconnected the EasyTouch Heater relay for an hour or so). After putting it all back together, thinking I had a Pentair motherboard issue (EasyTouch). I realized my iPhone connection was acting real strange. When I logged in to change settings, the app was showing things on that were not, and visa versa... when I clicked buttons to change things, it wasn't changing anything.

So I decided to go back to the Mac to log in with Screenlogic from there. Screen logic appears to see the Protocal adapter (I believe you guys call this the BRICK). I also see the IP of the system (again, I presume the Brick). However, when I try to connect and "configure" ScreenLogic it just sits there... If I try to launch "start Screenlogic" it just sits there... (in both cases it never connects)

I have rebooted the systems, and reset the brick multiple times... nothing changes. unplugged and replugged everything multiple times...

I've rerun the BRICK update (no problems) and the Lighting update (doesn't work - but didn't on the first install either).

At this point I suspect either a) the wireless device next to the Brick (It doesn't seem to talk much e.g. the Tx/Rx lights) or the Wireless card on the other end. Is there some form of test I can run to confirm if there is a problem with card or the Pentair wireless by the Brick?

Thanks in advance.

William,
The video and lighting adapter is not a “patch”. This was an additional piece of hardware that we used to offer but is no longer available.
I suspect your issue with your phone connection is that you are logging into our demo ScreenLogic system. On your iPhone, if you are selecting remote, the system name and password should match that of your adapter. I’m wondering if you might have left it on the default “Pentair: 00-00-00” which is the demo adapter.
As for on your computer, if your adapter is showing up in the local systems, this is a good thing and shows that the adapter is communicating via Ethernet. If when you select start or configure and the application just sits there not showing any attempt to actually connect to the unit, the issue would most likely be with the application. Your wireless connection would have nothing to do with this issue.

First off, thanks for the prompt response.

As for the Video etc. "patch" (sorry if I used the wrong name), I just followed the instructions on the Pentair software update page. If I don't have the hardware... I won't worry about it.

Next, regarding the "demo" site, I've never logged into the demo site and had no idea there was one. I'd love to check it out, but that is not my primary objective. Out of the box, after plugging in the wireless and Brick kit and installing the software, everything worked (maybe not as it should, but I don't know that). The only thing I had not got working was the remote access via my ipad/iphone. As for the 00-00-00 option, nope, I had entered in my system name... I suspect a firewall issue somewhere, but I wasn't worried. I'd get to it in time. The heater and local control was my primary concern and now all I and to do was fix my heater.
I was controlling the lights, the cleaner, the pool, and the spa, the air blower etc. right from my iPhone, iPad and iMac. I was tweaking (setting menu items etc.) and learning as I went, but it was al working.

The problem is that my heater was not "working". It was not working BEFORE I upgraded my (pentair) wireless and added the ScreenLogic hardware. It was during the heater troubleshooting process two weeks after installing ScreenLogic, to finally fix the heater (master temp 400), when things went bad. After disconnecting the EasyTouch to the MasterTemp fireman's switch (power off to everything, no switch gear work with power on), that the iPhone/iPad/Screenlogic (from imac) access to my pool (locally) ceased working.

Now as for the "connections" there are 3 to troubleshoot as I see it. First, my home network to the Brick (I think that is what everyone calls it). Two, the brick to the Pentair wireless (via the 1 ft serial cable) and. Three, the Pentair Wireless to the EasyTouch control panel. It is this last "connection" I am suspicious of. Nothing I am aware of has changed within the EasyTouch system or the Screenlogic hardware recently added. But I don't seem to have any means of testing, anything passed the brick from my home network side, or how I might test the connection from my EasyTouch side (e.g. could I have inadvertently during the heater troubleshooting, turned off the wireless connection at the EasyTouch panel?

Additionally, when I first installed the ScreenLogic system, I recall seeing lots of Tx/Rx activity on the Pentair Wireless unit (not the brick, but it has active light flashing too). Now, the Tx/Rx on the wireless (since trouble started), almost never blink... they do blink quickly now and then but real rare, not like you normally see (or as I recall on first install). It just isn't trying to talk or the Brick isn't asking it too... (or the EasyTouch won't answer...?). All the help is appreciated.

While not interested in remote access, I did try it again with the proper ID and PW. It tells me part way thru that the relay server is not responding... I will tackle this later, right now I just want to get my local access working (unless getting the remote coms will help solve the local problem).

Lastly. Does resetting the brick reset my PW also?

William - did you ever figure out the solution to your problem? I am having the exact same issue as you. The connection from my local router to the brick is good. I see an IP address assigned when I plug it in. The connection from the brick to the Pentair Wireless Link hasn't been touched (and I've powered that thing down twice today). But the Tx and Rx lights on the wireless link are not flashing at all which makes me think that either that small piece of equipment is dead or the wireless thing that is attached outside at the pool equipment.

Give our technicians a call

Give our technicians a call at 1-800-831-7133. If the adapter is appearing under the local systems of the connect software, there should not be anything preventing you from connecting at least to the adapter. Whether the adapter can connect to the outside panel, this would be a different issue, perhaps with the wireless but you would still be able to connect to the adapter.
