I had a problem with my screenlogic protocol adaptor and yesterday had Pentair tech support access my adaptor through my PC to get it operational again. That prooved out to be successful, however in the process my protocol adaptor was upgraded to the newest version firmware along with my PC application (Screenlogic) being upgraded to be compatible with the new firmware. I have an ASUS PDA that was used for accessing all my pool functions and it appears that this device is no longer compatible. Am I correct with that assumption? I own an Apple iPhone and downloaded the Screenlogic 2 app which also seems to work ok. I cannot see my Intellichlor status from the Screenlogic 2 app, is this normal? Is the only method to either use a PC or digital tablet? Since my family does not have the ability to use my PC or smartphone while I'm away, what other tools can be used by them for accessing pumps (pool, waterfall & slide), heaters, lights, etc...? Since the PDA is no longer compatible (assumption), what can I install to allow full function control from inside the home?

I'm not 100% sure on the backwards compatibility for ScreenLogic 2, so I'll check on that. The only FULL function ways to control the system would be a wired/wireless indoor remote, or another PC/Mac with the software installed. Maybe an old laptop/netbook could work.

I'm sorry to say that ScreenLogic2 does not support PDAs. An inexpensive option (that your family would probably like) is to get an iPod touch. You could run ScreenLogic2 and control your pool that way.
Permalink Reply by Michael M. on February 21, 2012 at 3:52pm Thank you Ben & David for your follow up responses. Will an iPOD touch allow monitoring & output level changes of the chlorinator or is this only supported by running from a PC running screenlogic connect? My iPHONE app does not show the chlorinator status or a way to get to it.

Permalink Reply by Michael M. on February 23, 2012 at 1:47pm Seems like a step backward by upgrading to Screenlogic 2. With the prior version, I could check and change the salt chlorination levels and change the Sam Light colors using a PC, PDA or iPHONE. Now the only way appears to be via PC running Screenlogic connect. It certainly was a simplier task to perform ALL functions via a simple PDA/iPHONE instead of having to boot up my laptop. The ITC45 Kit w/ tablet may allow full control but I can't see spending thousands of dollars for this option. Am I missing something or should I consider going back to the previous Screenlogic firmware/software version?

How were you able to change SAM light colors on an iPhone? I wasn't able to do that in my version of Screenlogic..which is part of the reason I was so excited with screenlogic 2.
As a pool builder, the few jobs I had installed with PDAs were major headaches. Not because of screenlogic, but because of some of the network connection issues I had with the various PDA's we used.
If you are as much of a geek as me..and you really wanted full control from you iphone, you could probably set up some type of simple RDP (there are a bunch of free ones on the app store) that would allow you to emulate you PC's screen on the iphone. I use logmein.com ....but I know there are some simpler and faster ones. You could just leave the pc version of screenlogic running on an old pc somewhere in the house. Just a thought.
Or...roll back to Screenlogic 1 if the PDA support is important to you.
ps..if you get Pentair's Intellichem system, you will be able to see all levels on your iphone (including pH) but you wan't be able to adjust them.

I guess I made a mistake originally. I didn't have a iPhone until recently after I got my screenlogic protocol adaptor operational again with an update from Pentair. I was able to change the SAM light colors and all the functions of swim, sync, etc. from my PDA which I never had troubles with. Now that I received the updates, the only place I can modify and view my chlorinator and adjust SAM light control is through the PC application. I am the geek in the family and don't really have a problem without the PDA functions, but my wife and kids enjoyed using it when I'm not around. Since I am the only one with an iPhone in the family, I have to either use an iPod touch or similar device for control when I'm not around. They still cannot change the light settings using an iPod and I don't want to leave a PC running somewhere in the house with some kind of RDP for their use.
Best option may still be to roll back to Screenlogic 1.

you will be able to control all the lights (including colors) with screenlogic 2 on an iphone/ipod touch/ipad. it is a really nice interface.
The only major things you lose from the windows ce/pda based old version are more of the "behind the scenes" stuff. Setting up schedules...changing chlorinator settings, etc. And you probably don't want them messing with that anyway. Every pool we have built now has screenlogic 2 and they have full light control from their idevices. The only time they use a pc is for the back end stuff.

1 more thing.
This page of pentair has all of the screenlogic 2 updates
http://pentairpool.com/pool-pro/dealer-resources/downloads/instruct...
On that page there is an update for the Dt366 wireless tablet. (which is a windows CE based tablet and work really really nicely.)
you can pick up some of the DT366's used on ebay for around $100. I have a bunch setting around my house and they do give FULL control (schedule, chlorinator, etc.)
just a thought...I'd hate to see you give up SL2 since it is so much nicer than SL1

Thanks for your helpful information. I now have screenlogic2 running on my iphone and my ipad but neither one allows me to pick a light color. I have the ability to color sync, color swim and color set, but I cannot select the color I want my SAM's to illuminate with. I only have that selection with the pc application.
