Thought we should start a discussion and suggestions for product improvements and or developments. Here are a few of mine.

-On the VS and VF pumps, provide alarm communication system for audible, visual, and PC based (i-phone, email) when the pumps have alarm failures to alert owners/service professionals by email or text etc. immediately. A light on the pump is not very helpful, the ability to alarm out for lack of prime or obstructions is awesome, but need to be able to know without looking at the pump

-I think chemical control is the future of safe and sanitary pools, and I think Pentair needs to direct some serious attention to it. As well as to solutions for all climates. For example the Aqua PC On point cannot really be utilized in AZ when the outside temps will cut liquid chlorine strength in half in literally hours.

-Although I love the efficiency of cartridge filters, I hate the cleaning process, and the lack of longevity of the cartridges. We need better element fabrics, or configurations, and or a backwash system or effective cleaning system. The garden hose and the filter flosser is not fun and extremely inefficient.

-Would love a simple ORP/Ph Sensor system that spoke to intelitouch and able to communicate to the owners through their i/phone, email etc.

-Can you say Droid App anyone.

- How about we get the cartridge filter ports raised so we can plumb the filter to the filter correctly. We should have 1 foot of straight pipe coming off the pump discharge before we plumb in a 90 deg ell.

- Larger ports on everything would be appreciated. With proper hydraulics, most systems require 2.5" or larger plumbing to work correctly.

How about heaters and filters that can handle the FULL FLOW of a properly plumbed Intelliflo (170 + gpm).

This would likely involve some sort of external bypass on the heaters (which we currently build into ALL our equipment pads).

And I agree with Frank!! We plumb our pads with 3" and the hoops that we have to jump through to make this work are cumbersome.

At full flow an Intelliflow running 170 gpm through the standard 2" pipe (which is how everything is set up to be plumbed) yields a velocity of around 16 fps!! The code stipulates 8 gpm MAX... (even with 3" you end up with a velocity of about 7.4 which is still too high in my opinion)

I love the ScreenLogic! BUT where is the BlackBerry app?

How about lights behind the labels on the spa side remote, so that the client can actually read the labels at night, and they don't have to memorize the assignments of all 10 buttons.

Skimmers that will allow 3" to be plumbed directly into BOTH ports on the bottom.
Check our the new Spa command, dont think there is back lights to the labels, but the buttons provide enough light to see the labels, and we can now control a lot more things, (vs pump speed etc) Looks a little newer, dont like that it is a little taller than before,but....

As far as fittings, I think pentair is moving in the right direction, new wisperflow XF 3hp with trick new unions and 2-1/2" x 3" plus a sweep elbow

Pentair is getting there
How about getting devices other than pool/spa on the Screenlogic for iphone app? Such as landscape lights, fountains, or other devices in the yard? I have them as macros, but they should just have that option without having to make macros.

Also, on the iphone ap, the toggle switch at the top right is too close to the on/off buttons for devices, and if your finger is off by 1 mm, you end up turning on a device rather than toggling. Please move the buttons down.
--A inexpensive way to turn off a booster pump when hooking up a stand alone vs pump--

---Better location for filter drain plugs.-

--a good motor cover for vs pump--

--Easier screen to work with on Easy and Intellitouch (bigger, better buttons, etc)

--A pump shutt off switch that will fit in intermatic timer boxes (when doing a retrofit job)

--Bigger inlet on booster pump

--A way to turn a valve with a vs stand alone pump

Those ideas should keep those engineers busy this winter.
Wight Water Pools...

Intermatic has a new unit that is inexpensive (less than $200 I think) and can controll an actuator and/ or a relay.

It may solve one or more of the issues you raised above... I would love to see Pentair come up with a VERY simple unit that can retrofit into an existing Intermatic timer box, which would allow actuator modulation at a minimum. ( I would love to be able to program a pool sweep valve to run only a couple hours a day)

The Intermatic does allow this.
Frank,

As a member of the new product devolopment team, I can tell you that we are working towards this on the majority of our product lines.

The cartridge filter you ask for will be launched fairly soon as the Clean & Clear RP. It has a raised port inlet that will allow a more direct inlet from the pump into the filter.

There are some great ideas here and I just want you to know that we're listening. As a member of the New Product Development team we're extremely appreciative of the "voice of the customer". It helps us create a better product and as a result ensures that we're meeting the needs of our customers. Keep the ideas flowing and we'll let you know the progress of the ideas as we move forward.

How about Color Lights that all sync to each other, completely.
IE. Pool Lights that sync with Water Feature lights (IE Magic stream) and landscape lights etc...
I've noticed Pentair is getting closer but still we still have to set things to Sam\Sal to get it done, and we're missing a lot of color in between.
Or even have an LED driven Fiber optic tower (PG3000??) with the same color spectrum as the IntelliBrite lights.
Also need to address the competition’s smaller “No-Niche” LED lights like the Nexxus Savi Melody or Fiberstars PAL and PAL Treo. That are the only LED game in town for shallow water lighting.
Most importantly I'd like to see a project where the full LED color spectrum matches and a true "Color Wave" can be completed, and repeated.

Also an interface in the exterior IntelliTouch panel for quicker programming access and a lockout option on the IntelliTouch for the base equipment information, would be nice. Just can't keep their hands off the important stuff.

I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to see an external interface at the subpanel, so that the serviceman doesn't have to make an appointment with the client in order to reprogram the pool, nor does he need to pull out his tool box and spend an extra 10 minutes wiring in his $650 service panel.

It is one of the only good things about the competitors system...
Or even just a specific service port for a quick plug in.
No screw drivers, just open the panel, peal back the rubber cover (to the extra port) and plug in. Or some sort of clip, that clamps on-top of the existing wiring terminal without removing anything, would be a fast solution.
That would be better... but with multiple service trucks it gets real expensive to have service panels for each different controller for each truck.
