Permalink Reply by Scott Bair on January 30, 2012 at 4:17am All three use incompatible sync signals so they won't sync. The only thing I can think of would be to set them to on individual relays and manually set each for the desired color or built in light shows for each using a macro.

The Pentair Intellibrite and Magic Stream can both be controlled via the Intellitouch, but the Savi light isn't made by Pentair so it may not function correctly. As far as syncing Intellibrite and Magic Streams, they are not designed to sync. The Magic Streams are meant to be accent pieces that stand out from the pool color.
Permalink Reply by Roberto Awad on January 30, 2012 at 8:05pm Thanks. Since it is not made by pentair, what is the best set up for the Savi light? Would it be better to use it just a generic "light", SAM, SAL or any other suggestions?
Permalink Reply by Michael Gambill on January 30, 2012 at 8:32pm Set the Savi units up as "generic". Keep your cheat sheet handy for the lights as they use a "turn off and count the seconds" method of changing modes. The Pentair lights use a "cycle off and cycle on" approach to do the same thing thus the Pentair automation is incompatible with the Savi. Would be brilliant if Pentair would come up with a choice in circuit types of "Savi Melody" and program the relays to match the Savi programming model. It wouldnt be too hard to accomplish. Same goes for Color Splash LED bulbs.
The best setup here would be to change the Savi out in favor of another Intellibrite. The two Intellibrites will then sync and the MagicStreams will be a nice accent light.
The other option would be as Michael stated. Set the Savi as a light, but control the on/off cycles manually. You might be able to set them all to the same color, but I don't know if they'll sync because the timing is probably different.
Permalink Reply by Michael Gambill on January 31, 2012 at 8:23am @Ben That would be a pricey proposal as you are then asking the homeowner to demo out a new light niche which might not even be possible if the Savi is in a shallow location that a spa size Intellibrite wont fit. That's the main selling point of the Savi units. They dont require a niche an can go places a standard pool or spa light cannot.
That's certainly a valid point. He did ask what the best setup would be given he wants to sync the lights though.
Permalink Reply by Matthew Marlowe on February 8, 2012 at 7:57pm We just finished putting in a 34x16 inground pool with all pentair equipment, including intellichem, ultratemp, intellitouch, intellichlor, quad de 100, etc -- and after a couple of months of working out bugs, I think I have a pretty good list of things that I wish were done slightly differently:
- Get rid of the whole solar is a heat pump and heat pump can not be connected as same time as solar restraints....automation should be intelligent enough to handle all of this on its own rather than requiring different wiring, everything should connect via serial cable/etc...the complication seems needless.
- Honestly, given the pricing of intellitouch -- and how old the interface is, I'd almost think screenlogic should come with it as the default interface -- users can upgrade to tablet/wall panel if they want
- The new automatic acid dispensing needs a little work, ph handling is great, but we had a motor/tubing start to leak and that was extremely frightening ...especially with control unit mounted over the pump...I ended up having the pool builder put in an emergency catch pipe in case this ever happens again.
- The ORP sensors for intellichem seem to have issues with covered pools...I've kludged it up a bit so that a minimum of chlorine is dispensed by SWG even if pool stays covered for several days...but opening up the cover will naturally as a result always result in starting the swg.
- More heating intelligence! With screenlogic interface, it shouldn't be too hard for the automation system to request enough information from user to determine the right balance of heat pump versus solar versus gas heater /etc to meet whatever temperature goals a user has and it certainly should be possible to run a heat pump and solar at same time if a minimum temp threshold is not being met.
- VF versus VS pump is complicated, I had to put in a VS pump because my pool builder was not comfortable with the VF deployed for solar - he has had bad experiences. I still put in a digital flow meter on separate piping but of course, there is no way to get the automation to receive that flow info and store/graph it like it does for temperature in screenlogic
- This is probably more far out, but it would be nice if the pressure gauge on the filter was readable from screenlogic and stored/graphed....so I can see how it trends over time and know exactly when filter needs to be cleaned
- Linux app for screenlogic or android app please -- I understand focusing on ipads as pools are a luxury item and luxury stores are generally targeting rich consumers who seem to have apple products, but this is just a segment of the pool owner market...and I'm pretty sure we'll never have an ipad here, we certainly have never bought an iphone or ipod.
-Ability to export data from screenlogic....csv file/etc, let me email graphs to my pool builder or solar install company if I have concerns about something...
-Ability to generate statistics, not just graphs within screenlogic, choose which metrics and how to analyze, maybe a top 10 report list (for intellichem, it is nuts that I can't get a report on the average amount of acid dispensed per day and how this changes per month, similarly I should see the avg amount of swg run time and how this changes by month).
- Firmware updates -- so many devices, assuming I buy the equipment and plan to keep my pool in excellent maintenance for 30yrs....does the firmware get updated only when I have to replace units every 5-15 years? Seems a little klunky.
-More temp sensors, especially for water returning to pool after heaters....my heat pump shows temp of water leaving it after going through solar but intellitouch/screenlogic doesn't capture it... This is invaluable data for fine tuning heating performance and it sucks that it is only available on the heat pump lcd screen.
-Intellichem needs a flag for ph/orp separately that puts it in monitor but do not dose mode, and this should be the startup mode when it is shipped from factory...that allows pool owners to learn how the system is measuring and what the data trends by time of day is before acid and swg starts to run to correct/meet setpoints.
-Email alerts for critical items...I set this up but do not appear to be receiving anything...not even sure what screenlogic is using for the mailserver since it didn't ask for ip address of smtp relay...
I could come up with several more ideas, but you get the general gist...

Permalink Reply by Randy Dodd on February 22, 2012 at 9:37am Redesign the keypad and software interface, for the IntelliFlo VS/VF pumps, to more closely match existing devices we already use, such as TV remotes, smartphones, and computers. The buttons, their functions, the placement of buttons, and the software menus are confusing and different than what is normally expected when using common-place devices mentioned.
