It's too cold to swim now, so we aren't maintaining the pool as well as we do in the summer.  We've got some algae because the nights are still warm.

The water in my pool is cloudy due to to many phosphates, I believe.  I have hit it will phosfree for over 2 weeks and still getting a grey cloud on the bottom of the pool.  Then after backwashing the grey :"stuff" is at the end of my driveway.  What is this stuff and how do I get rid of it in my pool water?  Is this phosphates?  The water still does not register chlorine.

Its really easy, and you will be glad you did. Just buy the salt generator, transformer, and follow the directions to install, then find a electrician to wire it in to your time clock, buy some bags of saltand salt test strips, put the requird amount in the pool ...and your ready to go! No more toting jugs of chlorine, softer water, no alge...maintenence free!  I recomend the Pentair IC40, its the best!

How difficult is it to convert a chlorine pool to a salt pool?

A pool is a fair amount of work, but if you live in Southern AZ it's the only way to get through the summer!  I find using the pool for even 1/2 hr. a day reduces my core temperature.  I feel cooler all evening long - much cooler on night when I swim than when I don't.

Pentair products are the best, I have the IC40 salt generator, and I love it!!  It has made my pool maintenence so much easier.....If you go salt, you will love it!!

This is a really good resource for pool owners that I did not previously know about.  I'm glad I was invited to join.
