Well welcome to the Innovation Lab. Our guest this morning is Frank Bowman. I understand that you also have a company called Splash Pools that you founded a couple of years ago that focuses on vinyl liner pools and fiberglass pools. What advice should pool owners with vinyl pools look for when it comes time to replacing, let’s say, their liner?
Frank Bowman:
With a vinyl liner it’s the, I guess, the signs are pretty evident. The main thing would be if you have large tears or leaks in there where your pool is draining water out. That’s, of course, a reason that you’d want to replace it. More times than not in a vinyl liner just through chemicals and UV rays your liner’s going to start to look, you know, a little worn. Maybe the pattern’s become outdated. And then it’s really time to replace that liner. The key with replacing a vinyl liner is to replace it, try to replace it before it fails because if it fails and you get a lot of water running through your liner and underneath of your pool, it’s going to damage the base that’s underneath of there and it’ll – it could cost you an additional, you know, thousand to two-thousand dollars to replace that base that you wouldn’t have had to do otherwise if you would have replaced your liner, you know, before it ended up failing.

Is there a typical life expectancy on vinyl pools when it comes to, you know, needing to replace the liner?
Frank Bowman:
With the vinyl liner really the life expectancy is about the same; about eight to ten years as long as you don’t have any tears or cuts in the liner. And usually about that time you’ll notice the liner’s going to start to shrink a little bit around the edges and it’s going to discolor. And then it’s usually time for the new liner.

Frank, you’re headquartered in North Carolina, but I understand that you also do business in the Mid-Atlantic States as well. Can you tell our listeners a little bit more about your company and what’s the best way to reach you?
Frank Bowman:
