Spooktacular Pool Party
Whether you are the sole host or choose to partner with some of your best ghoulfriends, check out Country Living’s free downloadable templates for 30 Halloween pumpkin designs to get your spookiest creative juices flowing. Here are a few spooktacular suggestions to get your Halloween pool party started!
Decorating is best when you let your imagination soar to new heights. Configure pool noodles into stick-figure shapes, wrap in gauze and leave them bobbing in the pool. Plastic skeletons can be weighted on one leg for a creepy pose, especially if they’re crawling out of the water. You can also pose plastic skeletons alongside your pool or on pool floats!
A fog machine can lend unequaled ambiance, but when coupled with colored pool water, it’s extra spooky. Use pool water dye or colored pool lights to create a spooktacular effect for your pool. Additionally, you can place glow sticks into surgical gloves, blow them up, tie and toss in the water. Pro tip: Blue gloves give off a particularly eerie glow, especially with the fog machine. You can also float other items in your pool, like witches hats (they do dissolve in water, you know) and floating candles.
If skeletons and witches are too scary for your crowd, decorate with scarecrows, hay bales, cobwebs, spiders and bats. Start the night with a jack-o-lantern carving contest and display all of the entries along the walkways. Add twinkling lights and bats in the trees, set the pool aglow with floating candles and maybe a little fog, and frame the yard in hay bales and spiders.
