cloudy stuff on bottom of pool

When I vacume my pool a white cloudy mist comes up, and turns the water cloudy...What is this from? And how do I get rid of it?

I put 2 cups of soda ash in my pool, and it turned my entire pool cloudy white.....why did this happen? How can I correct it?

"thanks.....I think thats what happened.....I used some old reagents when I tested!"

"If the ph was real low, soda ash will make the water cloudy. It usually clears up fairly quick though."
