With Valentine’s Day fast approaching (don’t forget guys!) there are plenty of heart-shaped reminders to get everyone in the loving mood.
For the pool industry, those reminders come in the form of heart-shaped pools. While not a prevalent design, heart-shaped pools do fulfill a niche segment of the pool construction industry.
The introduction of heart-shaped pools began in the mid-20th century and become popular with those willing and able to afford the custom design. Their popularity also spawned the heart-shaped spa emergence, which saw its greatest popularity in the 1970s.

Heart-shaped pools appear in more places than your love-obsessed neighbor’s backyard. The Heartbreak Hotel next to Graceland is famous for their heart-sh... and Hollywood star Jayne Mansfield, who may have started the trend in the 1950s, had one at her Pink Palace in Beverly Hills, California.
There are also a number of less famous heart-shaped pool installations around the world. Try a simple internet search or check poolfyi.com for more heart-shaped pools.
