Troubleshooting checklist for screenlogic connection.

My screenlogic connection was working last year and is not when I opened the pool. My protocol adapter is to my ethernet network. Nothing shows under local systems on the Windows "Screenlogic connect" program, and I don't see anything even vaguely like Pentair when I look at the network through my router admin program. Using the paperclip reset or unplugging the green connector does nothing I phoned Pentair and was on hold for 63 minutes, and then lost the phone connection while I was peering at lights on the protocol adapter. Arghh!

I'm not about to do another phone call!

I had no idea there *were* lights at the CAT5 cable end of the adapter. I don't think the manual mentions them. If the Pentair tech (Tony) was asking me if they were green, then presumably this is important. Incidentally, there are two lights and they seem to my old eyes to be green. Lots of people seem to be having similar problems. My local pool provider has only one person who knows the Easytouch panel, and he has no idea about setting up the screenlogic program. For all I know, the guys who closed my pool removed a fuse as part of their procedure and never told me (unlikely, I know, but the point is, the thing is a black hole with no light shining therein.)

My question is: surely there is a document somewhere which takes someone through a list of simple questions to eliminate common causes. Can we get it? What can I try short of another marathon hold session?

Many Thanks!

David

Update - I'm back up and running. As I suspected, I needed a new Interface adapter. Thank you Richard for troubleshooting. I still don't know what the two lights mean - something to do with the ethernet connection, I presume. FYI right now with it working, I have two lights on, and they appear to be green, but my eyes are so bad and the lights so small, they could be any bright colour!

Unfortunately what maybe going on with your adapter is not published in our manual, we will need to go through a troubleshooting process with a computer remote session, if you have not spoke to anyone else beyond this point, I will private message you with an email address and leave a contact number to contact you.

hello richard,

hello richard,
I just come back from three days away and find that I can no longer connect to my controller via screen logic. The two lights in the remote try to connect, blink a bit and then stop. This sounds a lot like everyone else's problem with the Pentair Adapter. How do I narrow this down? How do I get a replacement adapter if needed? My system is less than a year old.

My adaptor was working fine up until yesterday. Now I get an error message. Shows connecting to Discovery service and Gateway and found the system. But it won't connect. Says the address is invalid. Haven't changed anything on my network. Can someone please assist.

Like many of you, our Screenlogic would not connect and just quick working. I tried Jan's approach and unplugged the power cord for a couple of minutes. When I restored power, our Apple devices began working again.

On a side note, I have noticed that Screenlogic program and mobile apps seem to be more compatible with Apple products. The user interface on my wife's iPhone and iPad have a clean appearance and seem to be much more reliable. When I've attempted to run the app on our home PC or on my Android base smart phone, the program works about 50% of the time and the user interface is very rudimentary.

Its a good thing were a mixed family of smart devices...LOL.

New to the forums and can't figure out how to start a topic, but this is close to my issue. My intelliflo shows up on my screen logic on my pc but will not show up on my droid phone app as an option.

It took me a while to work

Bill Nass - It took me a while to work out how to add a topic, too. Just looked again and it took a few tries to work it out again: "FORUM" from the top menu. Then "ASK A PRO" from the left sidebar., and "New topic" near the top. This is on a PC browser, may be different on a phone!

Regarding your problem, a couple of suggestions: Assuming your PC is on the same network as the interface adapter, the connection is being made locally, so the traffic doesn't need to go beyond the router. It may be that the router is preventing connection to the internet (security rules, whatever.) When you use the app on your phone, are you choosing local or remote? Local (I assume) would be wi-fi to the same router, and I'd guess would work. If it does, it adds weight to the "not getting beyond the router" theory, and I'd look at the router if you know your way around it.

I have also noticed that if I connect on my phone, and don't close the app, then it doesn't work after the phone "sleeps". Force the app to close, re-open, and it works - for me!

I don't have data on my phone, so I have no experience with using it on remote.

Hope something there helps you. David

My adapter stopped working.

My adapter stopped working. I realized it was because I changed routers in my house over the winter and the IP structure in the house USED to be 192.168.55.XXX and now it is 192.168.1.XXX.

I cannot for the life of me figure out how to reset the adapter. I have held a pin in the little hole to no effect. I have gone as far as removing the cover and battery inside to let it sit.

Can anyone help?

Bottom line: I need to reset the adapter so it will get an IP assigned to it in form 192.168.1.XXX

I got a new screenlogic2 and can’t get the protocol adapter to power on. The power button never comes on. What’s needed to get power to the adapter? I know I have an active wireless port that I’m plugged into. Could it be the 4 wire connector or plug that goes from the adapter to the wireless box? I can’t think of anything else that would cause the adapter to not even power on.

Im in the same boat with most of you. I just fired up the system and cannot connect to screen logic. Its simply not connecting. Its connected to the internet but its not communicating with app or site. Im currently on hold 55 minutes and this sucks. Its every year this system doesn't connect and there should be a easier fix then spending hours on the phone

I know this is old but wanted

I know this is old but wanted to update everyone on what I found. I had an issue with my router and after replacing it everything on my network came back up except the screenlogic controller. I also could not see it asking for an IP address from my new router. I called tech support and they had me press and release the reset button 3 times, this resets the adapter and forces the adapter to request a new IP address. It now works great.
