Celebrate Pi Day with Pizazz
It’s Pi Day! While Pi Day has been observed for years, it was made official on March 12, 2009, when the U.S. House of Representatives passed a resolution recognizing March 14th as National Pi Day. We’re super excited about this national celebration of mathematics, especially this year, considering the entire date from month to year is comprised of prime numbers (3/14/19).
As a result, here are three Pi party ideas you can use celebrate today!
1. Foods Beginning with “Pi”
Pi Day is traditionally celebrated with pies. Pie is perfect for this occasion because it not only starts with the letters “Pi” but also sounds exactly the same phonetically. Throw up a card table in your pool area and fill it with delicious foods beginning with the letters “Pi”, such as pizza and dishes or drinks that include pineapples, pickles or pimento cheese.
2. Pie Throwing Contest
Who doesn’t love a good old-fashioned pie throwing contest? Your kids are sure to have a blast, and Pi Day is the perfect opportunity to sanction this wild, fun and messy activity. If you’re inviting friends, let them know to bring an extra change of clothes. Fill up pie tins with whip cream and throw down!
3. Pi Day Bake-Off Challenge
Invite your friends and family to have a Pi Day bake-off challenge! Show off each baker’s creative Pi Day-themed pies then enjoy them at the party. Celebrate the winners with ribbons and small prizes.
As you can see, there are many exciting ways to help celebrate Pi Day. From food to fun, Pi Day is an awesome time for families and friends to get together and celebrate math. Happy Pi Day!
